Jacquelyn D. “Jackie” Knapp helps clients secure and protect their intellectual property. She focuses her practice on patent, trademark and copyright prosecution and enforcement matters. Jackie helps clients navigate the patent and trademark process by counseling clients on filing, use and enforcement strategies worldwide.
She performs extensive product review and clearance searches and drafts patent and trademark applications. Jackie drafts trademark and patent non-infringement, clearance and freedom-to-operate opinions; negotiates coexistence agreements; and drafts and reviews purchase agreements and license agreements. In addition, she is well versed in design patents.
Jackie has experience helping clients manage their patents and trademarks throughout a wide range of industries, including fashion, beauty products, hotel, building products, shipping, automotive, aviation, baby products and agriculture.
She enjoys helping solo inventors, entrepreneurs and small businesses evaluate and protect their intellectual property assets. For clients with large domestic and foreign IP portfolios, Jackie has experience with filing and prosecuting foreign patent and trademark applications.
She is admitted to practice at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, as well in North Carolina and Kansas. She earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Mississippi, and she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from the University of South Carolina.
