Jade Gilstrap is an associate in the Labor & Employment Department in the Atlanta office of Seyfarth Shaw LLP. Her practice focuses on defending employers against claims of employment discrimination, retaliation, harassment, hostile work environment, failure to hire, failure to promote, and wrongful termination under the ADEA, ADA, FMLA, and Title VII, among other federal, state, and local anti-discrimination laws.
Ms. Gilstrap also has significant experience defending employers against wage & hour claims in class and collective actions brought under federal and state law, as well as against claims of breach of contract and related theories in FINRA arbitration proceedings. Ms. Gilstrap represents clients in a variety of industries, including financial services, hospitality, restaurant, food service, retail, insurance, staffing, transportation, IT, technology, and education.
Ms. Gilstrap has authored and co-authored a number of articles on employment-related issues affecting the workplace and has specifically addressed issues regarding collective bargaining, the New Jersey Conscientious Employee Protection Act, whistleblower protection, disability accommodations under the ADA, and the legality of unpaid internships under the FLSA.
Ms. Gilstrap is actively involved in the firm’s pro bono efforts and has represented numerous non-profits in the defense of employment-related claims, as well as drafted and revised employee policies and handbooks for non-profits that comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
Ms. Gilstrap first joined the firm as a member of its New York office as part of the Labor & Employment Department’s innovative fellowship program, a training-focused program for law students with an affinity for labor and employment law.
Thereafter, she was an associate in the firm’s New York office from September 2014 through September 2016, prior to transferring to its Atlanta office. While in law school, Ms. Gilstrap worked as a Legal Intern at District Council 37, AFSCME, AFL-CIO and a Law Clerk at the National Football League (NFL) Management Council.
