Attorney James A. Saraceni has extensive experience with the legal system, both inside the courtroom and inside the police station. He began his career in the Norwalk Police Department, where he served for 27 years until retirement. He rose through the ranks, holding the titles of Patrol Officer, Detective, and Sergeant.
Throughout his career as a police officer, Attorney Saraceni worked with a number of different units, including the following:
• Patrol Division
• Canine Unit
• Detective Bureau (general investigations)
• Norwalk Police Special Services Division (narcotics and vice)
• Federal Bureau of Investigation Safe Streets Task Force (gangs)
• Federal Bureau of Investigation Violent Fugitive Task Force
• Hostage Negotiations Unit
His time with the police force furthered his respect for the law, but it also showed him that good people make mistakes sometimes and that completely innocent people can be wrongly accused of crimes. Because of this and other reasons, he put himself through law school. He graduated from Quinnipiac University School of Law in 1995 with his J.D. and was admitted to the Connecticut Bar in 1996.
Attorney Saraceni opted to remain with the police department until reaching retirement age, but he did begin a solo practice on the side, gaining experience in real estate, personal injury and construction litigation, and probate law. When he did retire in January 2008, he joined the prestigious law firm of William A. Pelletreau LLC. There, he added criminal defense to his previous practice areas and began to represent clients in courts throughout Fairfield, New Haven and Hartford Counties.
In 2012 Attorney Saraceni moved out on his own, starting a solo practice focusing on the areas of criminal law, family law, and personal injury. Ever since, he has faithfully represented clients in a variety of matters and gaining the gratitude of many clients.
