James P. Cone is a member of the Atlanta Office of King and Spalding and is a senior attorney in the Mass Tort and Toxic Tort and Environmental practices. His practice focuses primarily on products liability litigation.
Prior to joining King and Spalding, he was an associate with Jones Day and focused on products liability and complex commercial litigation. James has been a member of several trial teams, highlighted by representations of the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. He has a wide range of experience in fact and expert depositions, briefing and motions practice, offensive and defensive discovery, and the evaluation, development and preparation of cases for trial.
He is also responsible for managing numerous cases on the firm’s Engle progeny tobacco trial docket and conducting and coordinating discovery and trial preparation in those cases.
James’s legal career started as a Captain in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps. While serving as a military attorney, he tried cases both as a trial counsel and as a criminal defense counsel.
He also served as Business Law Attorney at the U.S. Army Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command and is familiar with the federal acquisition regulation and government contract law.
