James Gannon is a senior associate in WSGR’s technology transactions practice. James’ practice focuses on technology law issues that include drafting and negotiating agreements for intellectual property and technology licensing, software development and support, technology transfer, hardware procurement, media sponsorship and broadcasting, and outsourcing.
He also has experience advising clients on privacy and e-commerce matters, as well as litigating patent and copyright disputes. James works closely with the firm’s corporate attorneys on mergers, acquisitions, spin-outs, and venture capital investments to serve as lead counsel in addressing the technology and intellectual property rights involved.
His clients range from privately funded start-ups to publicly traded multinational organizations. Prior to joining the firm, James was an associate in the intellectual property and information technology group at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer US LLP in New York, where he provided strategic support in connection with some of the largest worldwide technology licensing, outsourcing, and M&A transactions.
He began his legal career at McCarthy Tétrault LLP in Toronto, Canada, in the firm’s technology law group.
