James T. Grogan has a national reputation for successfully representing company and creditor clients in complex financial restructurings, bankruptcy cases, and out-of-court workouts.

He focuses on solving his clients’ most challenging problems by designing and implementing negotiation and litigation strategies, and serving as lead trial counsel in bankruptcy disputes. James also has extensive experience with complex cross-border restructurings, having advised on some of the most important, market-leading engagements in recent years.

James also frequently handles appellate matters in bankruptcy cases, and recently argued a case of first impression regarding lien extinguishment to the Second Circuit.

In addition to his practice, James actively lectures and writes on various topics relating to financial restructurings, and previously assisted in teaching commercial law and secured credit at the University of Kansas School of Law.

During law school, he served as an associate editor for the Kansas Law Review.
