James Moffett counsels clients on government relations, public finance and economic development matters. A registered lobbyist with years of experience working with governmental bodies, James uses his political acumen and communication and legal skills to lobby and advocate on behalf of his clients. He works with elected officials and policymakers, helping them accomplish their goals in executing projects that change communities for the better.
James guides political subdivisions and private companies through complex administrative procedures and assists them in accessing the capital markets through the execution of Tax Exempt and Taxable Bond transactions.
Drawing on his experience and knowledge base he gained while working as an economic developer, James understands how to make ideas come to fruition. In that previous position, he focused on the attraction and retention of private sector companies throughout the southeastern region of Louisiana, and led job creation efforts within advanced manufacturing, energy, international trade, digital media, biosciences and emerging environmental industries.
Clients also benefit from James’ experience as an analyst at a Wall Street investment banking firm. In this capacity, he analyzed company financials and helped real estate investment trusts (REITs) access the capital markets through the execution of public and private corporate equity and debt transactions. Additionally, James has served as a consultant, providing advice in the areas of project management and compliance initiatives at financial institutions.
James understands that clients are concerned about the ways in which laws, regulations and policies affect the people in their community. Consequently, he closely monitors statutory and regulatory proposals before they are enacted or rejected, and he updates clients on such moves to help keep them fully informed.
In collaborating with public-private partnerships on economic development and public finance projects, James takes into account a rubric of important considerations. As a result, clients turn to James to help solve problems as they arise and help get the job done right.
