James M. Rusert

James M. Rusert focuses his practice on U.S. employment matters, including day-to-day advice and counseling, preparing employment agreements, restrictive covenants agreements, separation agreements, and other employee materials, and representing clients in employment disputes. As part of that practice, Jimmy counsels corporate and private equity clients on employment matters in connection with mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate transactions.

Jimmy also maintains a complex commercial litigation and white collar criminal practice, which includes the representation of corporations and individuals in state and federal courts in Georgia.  And Jimmy has significant investigations experience, including counseling and representing clients during government investigations by federal and state regulators and conducting internal compliance investigations.

Jimmy is actively involved in pro bono work in the Atlanta area. He has obtained temporary protective orders for low-income domestic violence and stalking victims, represented a nonprofit daycare facility serving low-income families in litigation arising out of damage from flooding, and represented an indigent federal criminal defendant in a securities fraud conspiracy investigation and prosecution.

Jimmy also serves as a member of the Junior Board of the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation, Inc., a non-profit organization providing legal representation to low income individuals in the Atlanta community.

He also serves as a volunteer instructor for Street Law, Inc.’s Legal Diversity Pipeline Program, aimed at increasing interest in the legal profession through classes taught at a local diverse high school in the Atlanta area.

Jimmy is a graduate of the State Bar of Georgia Young Lawyers Division’s 2015 Leadership Academy and has previously served on the Young Lawyers Division’s Council of Representatives.
