Roseville attorney James R. Lewis received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, graduating with honors (cum laude), from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He received his law degree from McGeorge School of Law, where he was a writer and editor for the McGeorge Initiative Review Project.
During his second year of law school, Mr. Lewis worked as a law clerk for the United States Attorney, Eastern District of California. He also worked as a law clerk for a statewide personal injury law firm and began his training in handling personal injury cases.
In 2001, Mr. Lewis joined the firm of Brayton Purcell, a plaintiffs’ asbestos litigation firm, specializing in all aspects of written discovery and law, and motion practice. Mr. Lewis joined Frank Penney Injury Lawyers in September of 2002.
Mr. Lewis is licensed to practice law in California, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District Of California, and in the Eastern District Bankruptcy Court. He is also a member of the California State Bar’s Litigation Section.
His areas of practice include wrongful death and personal injury resulting from a variety of causes, including automobiles, motorcycles, bicycles, buses, trucks, trains, boats, slip/trip and falls, defective products, construction accidents, and animal bites.
Mr. Lewis is a litigator who handles all aspects including depositions, arbitrations, mediations, expert witness preparation, and trial. Mr. Lewis is a court approved ADR panelist in Sutter County Superior Court and is an active member of the Association for Dispute Resolution of Northern California.
In July 2012, Mr. Lewis was named by Super Lawyers as a Northern California Rising Star as one of the top up and coming attorneys in Northern California, which is the result of nomination, rigorous evaluations, peer recognition and professional achievement.
In addition to spending time with his wife and daughter, he enjoys playing golf, basketball, camping and the occasional hiking expedition.
