James M. Theo’ original plan when he attended law school was to help filmmakers, musicians and other artists protect their works. With a practice focusing on trademark law, he’s expanded his original passion to ensure clients large and small are protected when they innovate creative ways to expand their business.
He assists in managing international trademark portfolios from clearance and registration through opposition and enforcement. This includes handling trademark prosecution and patent management for a multinational retailer concerning their dealings around the world, specifically Asia, Australia, Europe, South America and Canada.
His work focuses on maximizing value, with an eye toward strategic portfolio management and aggressive expansion into the e-commerce atmosphere. He also advises clients on matters related to domestic intellectual property matters, such as protecting copyrights and design patents, brand management and domestic trademark actions.
James understands that technology across the globe is constantly changing, and he wants to encourage innovators developing that technology by protecting their creations and enabling them to use it to further their long-term corporate goals.
