Ms. Lai is an experienced litigator who focuses her practice on products liability, complex civil litigation and food litigation. She represents manufacturers, distributors and retailers involved in products liability litigation concerning consumer products, power tools, machinery, electrical and mechanical equipment, appliances and devices. She also represents international food retailers and manufacturers in products liability and food-safety litigation.
In addition to her work in products liability, Ms. Lai regularly represents national clothing retailers, big box retailers, consumer goods retailers, and trucking and transportation companies in a variety of civil matters including personal injury, negligence, premises liability, premises security, and general liability in state and federal courts. Ms. Lai also has experience in construction litigation and commercial litigation.
Keys to Ms. Lai’s success are her attention to the details of a case and her creativity in developing unique and practical litigation strategies. For example, she will visit the manufacturing plant to see precisely how the product was made.
By combining this detailed understanding of the product with her well-honed skills in products liability law, she is able to find new angles from which to approach her litigation defense or pursue a fair settlement.
Ms. Lai is active in the defense bar and a frequent speaker and author. She was a National Director for Defense Research Institute (“DRI”) a 22,000 member international organization of attorneys representing corporations and insurers in litigation (2006 – 2009).
She is a Board Member of the Connecticut Chapter for Claims & Litigation Management Alliance (“CLM”). Ms. Lai is a member of the IADC (International Association of Defense Counsel), an invitation only international defense bar group.
