Jason Binford

Jason B. Binford is a member of Foley Gardere’s Bankruptcy & Business Reorganizations and Distribution & Franchise Practices. He works with franchisors, franchisees and related parties to provide workable, real-world solutions to deal with financial distress.

Jason draws on his experience as a corporate litigator and a chapter 7 and chapter 11 attorney board certified in business bankruptcy law to assist in every aspect of a financial reorganization, whether inside or outside the courtroom.

His understanding of, and experience with, complicated issues of franchise law provides an uncommon level of agility and legal sophistication in these matters. In addition, he is the co-editor of the American Bar Association’s Bankruptcy Handbook for Franchisors and Franchisees, the only full-length book substantively analyzing the intersections of bankruptcy and franchise law.

Jason’s experience also extends beyond franchise issues, including the representations of debtors, creditor committees, lenders, creditors and every other meaningful stakeholder in large to mid-size Chapter 7 and 11 cases across a diverse set of industries.

He has been recognized through board certifications from the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and the American Board of Certification, as well as being named a Rising Star and a Super Lawyer by Thomson Reuters every year since 2011.

Jason is actively involved in the American Bar Association Forum on Franchising, where he has published multiple articles in the Franchise Law Journal and serves as the publication’s associate editor.

In addition, Jason is a frequent speaker at industry conferences, including recent presentations on insolvency and workout issues at the Forum on Franchising’s annual conference, and on agricultural law issues at the Fort Worth Cattle Raisers Convention.

Active in the community, Jason currently serves as a Barrister in the John C. Ford American Inn of Court. In addition, he is a recipient of the Dallas Bar Association Jo Ann Moreland Outstanding Committee Chair Award for his service as co-chair of the Pro Bono Activities Committee.
