Jean Kim is an attorney in the International Practice Group of Ogletree Deakins and is based in the firm’s Atlanta office. As a full-time member of the firm’s International Practice Group, Jean is part of a growing team of international attorneys based in five countries with unique experience handling employment-law matters worldwide.
Jean is bilingual in English and Korean, and generally focuses her practice on the Asia-Pacific regions such as Japan, Korea, China, India, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Australia, and New Zealand. Recently, Jean has also assisted clients with mobility, independent contractor arrangements, incentive compensation programs, and data privacy issues in Latin America as well.
Jean advises employers (whether multinational or newly expanding operations outside the U.S.) in efficiently and effectively managing international labor and employment issues in today’s global economy.
Specifically, Jean assists clients with preparing and implementing (global or country-specific) personnel policies, employment agreements, incentive compensation programs, mobility assignments, independent contractor arrangements, and intercompany transfers.
Further, Jean counsels clients regarding foreign data privacy and protections laws, and through the process of complying with a myriad of data breach notification requirements in the U.S. as well.
On the domestic side, Jean has experience in all facets of workplace-related litigation defense in federal and state courts including cases involving wage and hour laws, Title VII, and other anti-discrimination laws and employment related torts.
Additionally, Jean’s broader domestic experience involves assisting clients in the construction and commercial development industry as well as data breach and privacy concerns.
Jean worked as a Civil and Stormwater Engineer in the Greenville, South Carolina area before her current legal practice. While in law school, she actively served in the Student Bar Association (SBA) and as SBA Vice-President, and also as the Managing Editor of the Charleston Law Review.
