Jeffrey L. Furr is a partner in our Mass Tort and Toxic Tort and Environmental practices in the firm’s Charlotte office. Jeff has served as national coordinating counsel and lead trial counsel in product liability litigation for over 20 years.
Jeff counsels clients on matters related to regulatory issues, new product development and offerings. He has tried cases in diverse jurisdictions, including North Carolina, West Virginia, Mississippi, Missouri, Indiana, Florida and California.
Jeff represents product manufacturers in class actions, mass consolidated proceedings, and individual personal injury and wrongful death actions. He has developed specialized expertise in defending his clients in punitive damages trials, and has command of the full range of legal, factual and scientific issues involved in such litigation. Jeff is proficient in utilizing jury research, focus groups and shadow juries to formulate novel trial strategy approaches.
Jeff also leads our tobacco litigation practice. Under his leadership, King & Spalding lawyers have tried to verdict over 60 Engle Progeny cases since 2010. Jeff himself has tried over 20 Engle Progeny cases to verdict since 2011. He obtained a defense verdict in a consolidated trial involving product liability claims of over 1,000 plaintiffs in West Virginia in 2013. Jeff also obtained a defense verdict in a class action medical monitoring trial in West Virginia.
