Jeffrey W. Lesovitz focuses his practice on litigating complex patent infringement cases before U.S. district courts and the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He also represents complainants and respondents in patent disputes before the U.S. International Trade Commission.

His litigation experience primarily involves representing high-tech companies in the consumer electronics, semiconductor, telecommunications, software and medical device industries. In addition to district court and ITC litigation, Jeff represents petitioners and patentees in post-grant litigation proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

He also counsels clients on a variety of other intellectual property matters, including the infringement, enforceability and validity of U.S. patents; the licensing, acquisition and collateralization of intellectual property; and strategies for developing and exploiting intellectual property assets.

Jeff is currently an adjunct professor at Villanova University School of Law, where he teaches a class on advanced patent law. He is also a frequent speaker on complex intellectual property issues relating to his practice, and has authored a number of articles and other publications discussing important intellectual property issues.

Experience :

  • Successfully represented a major tech company in a litigation involving patents directed to cellular network technology. Obtained a favorable Markman order, as well as favorable summary judgment orders on infringement and validity. The jury returned a verdict in the client’s favor on all counts after a three-week trial.
  • Represented declaratory judgment plaintiffs in lawsuits involving claims of infringement of patents directed to object-oriented software for accessing data in a relational database. The defendant stipulated to a finding of non-infringement after the plaintiffs received a favorable claim construction order.
  • Successfully obtained the affirmance of a summary judgment order finding patents invalid as obvious by the Federal Circuit for the New York Stock Exchange.
  • Represented the defendant against claims of infringement of patent directed to LCD technology. Obtained a favorable settlement during the jury trial.
  • Represented the complainant in an investigation involving multiple patents covering DRAM technology and semiconductor fabrication techniques. A favorable settlement was reached after a full trial on the merits.
  • Represented the respondent against claims of infringement of patents covering LCD televisions and inkjet technology. Resulted in a favorable settlement after a full trial on the merits.
