Jenifer Smith

Jenifer N. Smith represents and counsels numerous national insurance companies concerning structured settlements and annuities. She represents her clients in litigation involving complex issues related to structured settlements and annuities throughout the country.

Jenifer’s experience includes the representation of annuity owners and issuers in a wide variety of matters, including disputes and litigation relating to annuities, attempted assignments of annuity payment rights, third-party garnishments, interpleader claims, beneficiary disputes, tax issues, estate issues, commutations, workers’ compensation issues, bankruptcy issues, child support issues, special needs trusts and Medicare set-asides, and overpayment recovery.

Jenifer also advises insurers on payment obligations and liability issues arising out of the administration of annuities and litigates these matters on their behalf throughout the country. Jenifer has assisted in the development of and currently manages commutation programs for a number of large national insurance companies.

She has appeared and successfully litigated matters in state and federal courts in California, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Texas, Washington, and West Virginia.

Jenifer served as a law clerk to the Honorable E. David Millard, J.S.C., of the Superior Court of New Jersey. She earned her undergraduate degree from American University. Jenifer earned her law degree from Widener University School of Law.
