
Jess A. Pinkerton focuses his practice in the area of complex commercial real estate transactions. He has extensive experience representing developers, owners, institutional lenders, private equity funds and servicers in connection with the acquisition, development, financing, disposition and leasing of a broad range of commercial real estate projects, including apartment complexes, student housing, mixed-use, office buildings, shopping centers, condominiums, hotels/resorts, churches and banks.
Mr. Pinkerton’s experience includes structuring, drafting, negotiation and closing various types of secured and unsecured financing with respect to such projects, including construction financing, REIT financing, mezzanine financing, conduit lending and conduit loan assumptions and modifications. His practice also includes substantial experience in connection with commercial real estate workouts and loan restructurings.

- Acquisition, development and construction financing of a mixed-use student housing and retail project consisting of 2 six-story buildings having an aggregate of 185 units (612 bedrooms), a parking garage and ground level street front retail space, known as The Standard at Athens, located in Athens, Georgia. The transaction included a joint venture with a multi-billion dollar private equity investor.
- Acquisition, development, construction financing and mezzanine financing of a cottage style student housing project consisting of 138 units (587 bedrooms), known as The Retreat at State College, located in State College, PA. The transaction included mezzanine financing from a publicly traded REIT as well as a joint venture with a multi-billion dollar private equity investor.
- Acquisition, development, construction financing and mezzanine financing of a cottage style student housing project consisting of 187 units (780 bedrooms), known as The Retreat at San Marcos, located in San Marcos, TX. The transaction included mezzanine financing from a publicly traded REIT as well as a joint venture with a multi-billion dollar private equity investor.
- Acquisition, development and construction financing of a cottage style student housing project consisting of 149 units (554 bedrooms), known as The Retreat at Raleigh, located in Raleigh, NC. The transaction also included a joint venture with a multi-billion dollar private equity investor.
- Acquisition, development and construction financing of a cottage style student housing project consisting of 183 units (774 bedrooms), known as The Retreat at Tucson, located in Tucson, Arizona. The transaction also included the assemblage of property owned by 15 different sellers and a joint venture with a multi-billion dollar private equity investor.
- Acquisition, development and construction financing of a cottage style student housing project consisting of 178 units (710 bedrooms), known as The Retreat at Tallahassee, located in Tallahassee, Florida. The transaction also included a joint venture with a multi-billion dollar private equity investor.
