Jim Boerigter is a trial lawyer with 25 years of experience specializing in representation of individuals with family or criminal problems. In his family law practice, Jim often sees people looking down and focusing on the past.
His objective is to get his clients to look up and focus on the future. He also takes a special interest in cases involving young people and students who find themselves in trouble that could negatively impact their future.
For both his family and criminal practice, Jim says “I think it all starts with taking time to listen and get to know my clients. Doing that enables me to find solutions that can allow my clients to move forward.”
Jim enjoys an excellent reputation among judges and other attorneys in West Michigan as a conscientious and efficient problem-solver and advocate for his clients. His commitment to community service and access to justice for all those who need it is illustrated through his continuing services on the Board of Directors of Legal Aid of Western Michigan, where he was President for many years, only recently stepping down.
Jim’s main practice areas include family and criminal law, employment, general litigation, and driver’s license issues.
