Jinouth Vasquez Santos is an associate in the Labor & Employment Department and Cannabis Group in the Los Angeles office of Seyfarth Shaw LLP. She represents clients in a wide array of industries and has extensive experience in both single and multi-plaintiff employment cases involving wrongful termination, retaliation, sexual harassment, discrimination, and ADA compliance.
Ms. Vasquez also represents employers in high exposure wage-and-hour class actions involving PAGA, UCL, meal and rest breaks, off-the-clock, overtime, minimum wage, and joint employment claims. Ms. Vasquez has obtained full defense judgments in joint employer actions.
Ms. Vasquez has also creatively and successfully briefed summary judgment motions, motions to dismiss, demurrers, motions to compel, and removal. Ms. Vasquez also successfully argued several motions in court, including motions to dismiss, demurrers, and motions to compel.
Ms. Vasquez’s background also includes arguing bench trials before California courts, which have resulted in defense verdicts. Ms. Vasquez also has significant experience in trial preparation, including overall strategy, preparing witnesses, conducting direct and cross examination, introducing evidence into the record, preparing trial documents, including, motions in limine, pocket briefs, jury instructions, and special verdict forms.
Ms. Vasquez is also a member of the firm’s Cannabis team where she helps Cannabis businesses navigate California’s ever so changing regulations to ensure compliance with state and local ordinances, including entering into Labor Peacekeeping Agreements with unions.
Ms. Vasquez also assists Cannabis companies establish human resource functions, including investigation protocols, wage and hour compliance, and establishing policies. Ms. Vasquez also advises employers and cannabis companies on drug testing, accommodations, harassment, terminations, and on whistleblower claims pertaining to cannabis claims.
