Before returning to private practice, Joanne Patterson served as General Counsel and Vice President of Human Resources for a national breakfast and brunch franchisor where she oversaw all legal aspects of the company and served as an executive-level business leader.
Before that, Joanne served as Corporate Counsel to an international franchise system where she developed extensive expertise in all aspects of transactional franchise work including preparing disclosure documents, counseling on applicable registration requirements, compliance with disclosure regulations and restructuring existing franchise relationships.
Prior to working in-house, Joanne worked as outside counsel managing mergers and acquisitions, real estate transactions and commercial litigation.
Notably, in her prior in-house role, Joanne managed the sale of a franchise system to a major private equity group, spearheading all aspects of negotiations, due diligence, legal review, corporate restructuring and closing.
Also in a prior in-house role, Joanne quarterbacked a national data security breach – with enviable results. Joanne has a unique skill for developing big-picture winning strategies, while maintaining a firm grasp on technical and operational details.
As a strategic business partner to her corporate and franchise clients, Joanne has a wealth of experience in implementing marketing initiatives across franchise systems, negotiating major transactions and managing relationships with franchisees, vendors and employees. Joanne also partners with businesses to develop and implement expansion strategies and compliance plans that are business driven and legally sound.
Because she has stood in the shoes of a client for much of her career, Joanne has a unique understanding of the critical business and legal decisions that her clients are required to make as they grow their brands.
