Joel Alan Williams is an attorney having over 40 years of experience, working with the law firm Friedman, Dazzio, Zulanas & Bowling P.C. and practicing in the states of Alabama and Virginia. He represents individuals and corporations in the False Claims Act, insurance coverage, fraud suits as well as business, real estate & construction litigation.
He represents both business and individual clients in both complex litigation matters and business transactions. He focuses on the practice of defending employers, physicians, contractors, manufacturers and other clients in cases concerning medical malpractice, personal injury, worker’s compensation, and tort or breach of contract.
Under his civil practice, he represents clients in appeals to the Supreme Court of Alabama and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. He holds the license to appear before the Alabama trial and appellate courts, state and federal courts, the Supreme Court of Virginia, and the Supreme Court of the United States.
In his lengthy legal career, he has tried more than 100 jury and bench trials. Due to his effective trial preparation, his workers’ compensation clients have achieved reasonable settlements and avoided the trial expense. He has obtained summary judgments on behalf of multiple defense clients and avoided the risk of trial.
Joel A. Williams has tried five lengthy wrongful death cases for defendant physicians and two retaliatory discharge cases for employers in the recent past. He provides aggressive and proactive legal advocacy and takes the time to understand his clients’ specific business plans to deliver the highest quality litigation and business counseling.

Before joining his current law firm Friedman, Dazzio, Zulanas & Bowling in January 2011, he worked with Sadler Sullivan, in Birmingham for 28 years. From 1978 to 1982, he served as a U. S. Army Judge Advocate.
Joel Williams attended the Cumberland School of Law at the Samford University and earned his Juris Doctorate with honors in the year 1978. While in law school, he was an active member of its Law Review section. He obtained his Bachelor’s of Arts while graduating cum laude from the Washington and Lee University in 1975.
