Joel C. Boehm is an associate in the Austin office of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, where his practice focuses on intellectual property litigation and commercial disputes.Joel has significant litigation and trial experience, having served as co-counsel at several federal court trials in patent, trade secret, and unfair competition matters, including lengthy jury trials. He has substantial experience with every pre-trial aspect of litigation, including hearings, depositions, and dispositive motions.
He has also worked on several federal appeals and matters before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, in Texas state courts, and in arbitration, and has been a public speaker on various patent and trade secret issues.Joel also counsels clients on how to avoid potential disputes and litigation, and on early dispute resolution and settlement. These efforts often address cutting-edge questions about technology and the law.
Prior to joining the firm, Joel served as a judicial clerk to the Honorable Paul W. Green of the Texas Supreme Court, who is the second-longest sitting justice behind Chief Justice Nathan L. Hecht.Before attending law school, Joel worked for several years at consulting firms in Chicago and Austin. In that capacity, he designed and implemented computer network systems for private businesses and state agencies, as well as held many industry technical certifications.
Joel is a member of the firm’s Associates Committee and Hiring Committee for the Austin office, and he is a regular driver for the office’s volunteer work with Meals on Wheels. He also serves on the board of directors for the Marfa Film Festival, a nonprofit that hosts an annual film festival in Marfa, Texas.
