Joel Green

Joel S. Green’s practice focuses on representing individuals, public companies, financial institutions, accounting firms and other entities in a broad range of securities enforcement and litigation, regulatory proceedings and civil and criminal investigations. He has substantial experience representing individuals and organizations in parallel criminal and civil investigations and proceedings.

Mr. Green has conducted numerous internal investigations, both in the US and abroad, typically involving allegations of fraud, financial reporting or accounting improprieties and FCPA violations.

Mr. Green has an active pro bono practice. He regularly represents a DC-based non-profit mental healthcare provider in various litigation and other matters, including filing suit to recover millions of dollars that the non-profit lost through a Ponzi scheme.

Mr. Green has also represented individuals and organizations in numerous other pro bono matters, from adoption proceedings to commercial litigation disputes. He currently represents several individuals challenging their life-term prison sentences on Constitutional grounds.

Experience :

• Representing a major global oil and gas company in connection with parallel SEC and Department of Justice criminal investigations and in other executive branch inquiries arising from an accident in the Gulf of Mexico.
• Representing the president of a global financial services firm in connection with an SEC investigation.
• Representing a Big Four accounting firm in various enforcement proceedings and litigation, including parallel SEC, DOJ, PCAOB and NYAG investigations related to audit work for one of the world’s largest insurance companies.
• Representing the former CEO of a major mortgage company in an SEC investigation in the wake of the housing crisis.
• Representing a Big Four accounting firm from India in SEC and PCAOB investigations related to audit work after one of the largest financial frauds in Indian history.
• Conducting internal investigations on behalf of US and foreign companies involving disclosure issues, accounting issues and insider trading concerns.
