Joelle D. Levit is an associate in the Denver office of Lewis Brisbois and is a member of the General Liability and Professional Liability Practices. Joelle earned her Juris Doctor in 2013 from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law where she served as Notes Editor of the Journal of International and Comparative Law and her article examining issues of liability in the private military sector was selected for publication in the Spring 2013 edition.
Joelle also interned at Manhattan law firms focusing on personal injury and employment law and served as a research assistant for the former dean of her law school. After graduating law school in 2013, Joelle worked for a Manhattan based personal injury practice where she gained extensive litigation experience at the trial, appellate, state and federal levels throughout New York City and Long Island.
Her practice included auto accidents, premises liability cases, construction accidents, and wrongful death claims. Notably, Joelle successfully authored an Appellate Brief in the First Department, which resulted in the reversal of the trial court’s decision dismissing the client’s case. Joelle left personal injury in 2016 to begin practicing insurance defense.
She gained significant litigation and trial experience by serving as in house counsel at a large insurance company, where she sat first chair to jury and bench trials and advocated on behalf of clients in motion practice, arbitrations, depositions, settlement negotiations, and court and pre-trial conferences.
