He is serving as the arbitrator for King County at the Washington Superior Court since 1992 and Rule 39.1 mediator for U.S. District Court for Western District of Washington. Before joining his current law firm Ryan, Swanson & Cleveland PLLC, he worked as the Partner at the law firm Holland & Knight LLC and its predecessors from the year 1993 until 2004.

John Arthur Bender Jr. obtained his Juris Doctorate from Emory University Law School and Seattle University School of Law in the year 1985. Before studying law, he completed his Bachelor of Arts from the Saint Martin’s College in 1982.
