
J.B. Murray is the managing partner of our West Palm Beach office. J.B.’s practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, including probate and trust litigation. He has extensive experience in federal and state courts and various arbitration forums.
J.B.’s commercial litigation practice covers a broad range of business disputes. His trial experience covers shareholder disputes, corporate control battles, contractual claims, non-compete agreements, and a variety of other claims arising out of business transactions.
He has been involved in several high-profile multidistrict litigation proceedings, defended civil RICO claims, and defended corporate executives in claims under the Alien Tort Statute and the Torture Victim Protection Act. In addition to appearing in various federal and state courts, J.B. has conducted successful arbitrations before the American Arbitration Association and JAMS/ENDISPUTE.
J.B. regularly represents corporate and individual fiduciaries, as well as beneficiaries of trusts and estates. He has prosecuted and defended claims involving alleged undue influence and lack of capacity, trust disputes involving alleged breaches of fiduciary duties, contested guardianship proceedings, tortious interference claims, fiduciary accountings and disputes regarding the Florida Principal and Income Act.
His corporate clients include several of the leading US banks and trust companies. J.B. was the lead outside counsel for a national bank terminating its trust business and, in the course of the representation, coordinated litigation involving several hundred separate trusts in more than 30 states. J.B. is a regular speaker on probate and trust issues.
J.B. has represented manufacturers in the defense of product liability claims, including those involving spinal implants, OxyContin®, VIOXX®, chemicals, seatbelts, asbestos and Factor VIII blood clotting products. He has extensive experience with multidistrict litigation in federal courts.
J.B. is a native of Palm Beach County, Florida, and remains active with several leading organizations within the community. He is the immediate past chair of the Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties and served for many years on the Executive Committee of the Palm Beach Zoo. J.B. has also served on the boards of the Palm Beach Rehabilitation Center and the Mounts Botanical Garden, among other organizations.
