John Hanover focuses his practice in construction, counseling clients across all roles of the building process for both private and public works. His experience includes representing his clients in multimillion-dollar disputes in court, arbitrations, and mediations involving matters ranging from contract disputes, delay and acceleration claims, and payment remedies to claims of defective work.
Before joining Alston & Bird, John served as executive chairman, president, CEO, and general counsel for a registered investment adviser and a broker-dealer, managing acquisition activity and operations as a principal and financial and operations principal, spearheading the creation of an international master-feeder fund, restructuring repurchase agreements, and resolving an SEC investigation and Wells Notice process.
He managed the international construction law and litigation practice of a 100-lawyer construction law boutique, serving as managing partner of three West Coast offices and as a member of the firm’s Executive Committee.
He also served as outside general counsel to an international engineering, project management, and construction services provider, managing its U.S. legacy litigation after withdrawal from the U.S. market.
