John B. Mavretich is an associate in Venable’s Washington, DC office, where he focuses on civil and administrative litigation, risk management, and insurance recovery. John’s practice with Venable’s Environmental and Energy groups encompasses a wide range of federal and state statutes.
He frequently represents companies before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and Environmental Protection Agency with regard to administrative litigation and major rulemakings.
In particular, John’s work has dealt with California’s Prop 65, in which he has regularly assisted corporations and trade associations with compliance and defense strategies.
John was part of the Venable team that secured the first Prop 65 Safe Use Determination in over a decade from California’s Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment.
John also advises companies on all aspects of insurance coverage and insurance recovery. Here he often deals specifically with dispute resolution and litigation regarding complex long-tail claims, including recovery under missing insurance policies.
Before joining Venable, John worked with a public policy organization dedicated to national energy and environmental policy.
