John Michael White focuses his practice on energy regulatory and commercial matters. Prior to joining Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, Mr. White served as an analyst in the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s (FERC) Office of Energy Market Regulation. In the course of his more than six years with the agency, Mr. White led multidisciplinary teams in the economic and policy analysis of a broad range of issues.
He advised FERC on, among other matters, wholesale energy and capacity market design, transmission planning and investment, and rate design disputes arising under Sections 205 and 206 of the Federal Power Act (FPA).
Mr. White received his J.D. cum laude from American University, Washington College of Law, where he served on the American University Law Review. He earned his B.S. with distinction in economics from The Pennsylvania State University. Mr. White was a member of Akin Gump’s 2012 summer associate class.
