John Coghlan counsels and represents a wide variety of businesses, professionals, insurers, and other clients in matters including commercial litigation, premises liability, property damage, construction, medical malpractice, and labor law.
Versed in all stages and aspects of case management, John’s experience includes discovery, motion practice, taking and defending depositions, retaining and preparing expert witnesses, negotiating settlements, and preparing for trial.
While recognized as an aggressive advocate and proactive counselor for his clients, John’s practice is predicated on a strategic approach that accounts for each client’s long-term goals, strict compliance with insurance carrier guidelines, timely submission of litigation plans and budgets, and continual communication with clients and claims adjusters as each matter progresses toward a successful resolution.
John earned his B.A. at the University of Vermont and went on to attend Albany Law School, where he was a Sponsler Teaching Fellow for Civil Procedure and served as an associate editor of the Albany Law Review, graduating magna cum laude. During law school, he gained additional experience as a law intern at the school’s Domestic Violence Prosecution Hybrid Clinic and Family Violence Litigation Clinic.
