John S. Larson has focused on public law and finance for 39 years. John’s practice encompasses all types of public finance issues, including acting as bond counsel in both general obligation and revenue bond and note financings for Ohio school districts, municipalities and counties, and serving as underwriter’s counsel for national and regional underwriters of tax-exempt bond issues by Ohio issuers.
John has led the firm’s representation of clients such as the City of Toledo, Toledo City School District, Lakewood City School District and Cuyahoga County as bond counsel and special counsel for many years. He also serves as one of Squire Patton Boggs’ ethics partners.
He provides general counsel for Ohio political subdivisions in competitive bidding and contracting, school law, real property, election, special assessment, income tax, sales tax, intergovernmental agreement, municipal charter, economic development and legislative matters. He is also experienced in drafting state legislation and proposed state constitutional amendments on behalf of the firm’s clients.
John is a member of the American and Ohio State Bar Associations and the National Association of Bond Lawyers. He is also a past chair of the board of trustees of Youth Opportunities Unlimited.
