
John D. Shire is a partner in the Corporate Department of Seyfarth Shaw LLP’s Washington D.C. office where he serves both as Chair of the Impact Investment Practice and as Co-Chair of the firm’s Blockchain Technologies Team. Mr. Shire is a corporate and transactional attorney who represents public and private companies in buy-side and sell-side mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, commercial contracts, private capital transactions and impact investments.
Mr. Shire serves as outside general counsel to a variety of entities at the leading edge of innovation in the health care, energy, financial services and technology industries, including blockchain technology. Mr. Shire has unique experience representing private funds in blockchain transactions and compliance matters, cryptocurrency trading and securities compliance, and technology companies in all phases of private and public offering blockchain token technology. He also represents clients before federal and state agencies and licensing authorities in connection with compliance matters.
He is renowned by clients for his accuracy, efficiency and out-of- the-box thinking in corporate transactions, formation, organization, equity and regulatory matters. Mr. Shire is the co-founder and chairman of The Impact Investment Forum, which is a member-based not-for-profit association of business leaders, industry experts, and thought leaders.
The Forum was a lead sponsor of SkyTop Strategies Impact Investing Conference, and Mr. Shire moderated two panels around renewable energy and how to reframe impact investing with leaders in the industry including high level executives from Tideline and StarCore Nuclear.
The Forum was recently announced to the public at an inaugural meeting, and Mr. Shire introduced the association’s first initiative: water solutions. Mr. Shire currently serves as a guest contributor to Arlington Healthcare Group on health law-related matters.
