Jolie L. Justus is Shook’s Director of Pro Bono Services, a full-time position created to handle the day-to-day administration of the firm’s award-winning pro bono program.
In addition to her work with Shook, Jolie is a member of the Kansas City Council, representing the 4th District. Before joining the council, Jolie served as the Senate Minority Leader of the Missouri State Senate.
Her work with the state senate included service on a number of Senate committees, including as the ranking Democrat on the Judiciary Committee and as chair of the Progress and Development Committee.
In 2014, the Missouri Association of Prosecuting Attorneys and the Missouri Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers named Jolie “Legislator of the Year” in recognition of her successful three-year effort to revise the Missouri Criminal Code. She also received The Missouri Bar’s President’s Award for her sustained commitment and significant contributions to the bar.
Before assuming the role of pro bono services director, Jolie was an associate in the firm’s Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Litigation Practice. Her practice involved a wide variety of pharmaceutical, medical device, food and beverage manufacturers for which she provided regulatory and litigation support and advice.
