Jon Dawson grew up in Anchorage and has practiced with Davis Wright Tremaine since 1983. He has extensive expertise in commercial transactions, mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property matters, real estate transactions, and commercial and general civil litigation. Jon also serves as general counsel for a number of companies in Alaska and the Pacific Northwest.
Jon’s commercial/mergers and acquisitions experience includes negotiating and documenting major business acquisitions and asset purchase agreements, manufacturing and distribution agreements, and a wide variety of commercial contracts. His clients include manufacturers and distributors, fuel companies, professional corporations, Alaska Native corporations, and health care entities.
His IP experience includes trademark, trade secret and copyright agreements, as well as major software licensing and distribution contracts. He represents a wide range of clients regarding their business IP. He is the co-chair of the IP Section of the Alaska Bar Association. He also frequently lectures on intellectual property issues.
Jon’s real estate background ranges from commercial lease negotiations to building acquisitions to purchase/leaseback arrangements.
With more than 33 years of litigation experience, Jon Dawson’s expertise includes complex, multi-party litigation involving major commercial disputes, large, secured transactions, IP disputes, and media matters. His litigation clients include manufacturers, national banks, bulk fuel distributors, and television networks.
