Jonathan “Tre” Dixon III counsels hospitals and other health care providers on regulatory, operational, and transactional aspects of health care law, with an emphasis on Stark and anti-kickback laws, corporate governance best practices, insurance coverage, and risk and claims management. Tre gained a deep understanding of the client’s perspective during his years as in-house legal counsel for high performing health care organizations.
Prior to entering private practice, Tre was a senior vice president at Tampa General Hospital. In that role, he set strategy and oversaw corporate compliance, internal audit, legal, and risk management services. His responsibilities also included retaining and overseeing the work of outside counsel, and advising senior management on legal, compliance, risk management, and business matters affecting the company.
Tre also served in UF Health Jacksonville’s legal department for eight years, the last four as vice president and senior counsel. As vice president and senior counsel, he was a member of the seven-person executive leadership team that developed strategy and set company policy.
His responsibilities included managing the company’s legal department, as well as counseling senior leaders on operational and transactional matters, which included real estate matters, professional and management services arrangements, debt financing, employment and independent contractor matters, and retaining and overseeing the work of outside counsel.
While at UF Health Jacksonville, he led a legal team that successfully settled major False Claims Act litigation against the company while simultaneously navigating the certificate of need process during the later stages of the organization’s establishment of its first satellite hospital.
Tre also served as a Judge Advocate General within the United States Air Force, providing counsel on government contracts, medical staff issues, labor relations, and criminal matters.
