Joseph E. Blackburn III is a senior associate with the Litigation team, with a focus on commercial disputes and health care related matters. He received his J.D., summa cum laude, in May 2011 from the University of Richmond School of Law.
While in law school, Joe was the recipient of the John Marshall Scholarship; was inducted into the McNeill Law Society; and won the CALI Award for Contracts, Core Concepts of Commercial Law, Corporate Finance, Corporations, and Mergers & Acquisitions. He was a member of the University of Richmond Law Review and was a University of Richmond Board of Trustees Student Representative.
Joe received his B.A. in economics from the University of Virginia in 2003. While an undergraduate, he was on the Dean’s List, a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and a member of the Golden Key Society.
Joe worked previously at Williams Mullen as a summer associate in both 2009 and 2010. Prior to going to law school, he worked as a Senior Analyst with a division of Harris Williams & Co. from May 2004 to July 2007. In August 2007, he joined two former colleagues at their new firm, Boxwood Partners, LLC, where he worked for a year as an associate.
