Mr. Orzano is an associate in the Litigation Department in the Boston office of Seyfarth Shaw LLP. Mr. Orzano focuses his litigation practice on competitor false advertising and unfair competition disputes and the defense of consumer class actions involving claims of false advertising and challenges to product labeling.
Mr. Orzano also regularly counsels clients on product labeling and warning requirements and on marketing claims generally. Mr. Orzano has extensive experience defending consumer class actions involving claims of false advertising and challenges to product labeling.
He has litigated claims involving consumer protection statutes of multiple jurisdictions including those frequently asserted in class actions such as California, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Texas, Missouri, Illinois and Florida. Mr. Orzano has particularly in-depth knowledge of California’s Unfair Competition Law, Consumers Legal Remedies Act, and False Advertising Law.
Mr. Orzano also has deep knowledge of class certification requirements including evolving case law in the false advertising consumer class action context. He has litigated consumer class actions filed in state and federal courts around the country, and has litigated related class actions centralized for pretrial purposes by the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation.
Mr. Orzano also represents clients in competitor advertising disputes, including in litigation and before the National Advertising Division (“NAD”) of the Council of Better Business Bureaus, Inc. He has represented clients in competitor advertising disputes involving product labeling and other marketing claims.
Mr. Orzano draws on his litigation experience to provide sound, practical advice to companies regarding proposed product labeling and marketing. In addition to regularly conducting labeling and advertising reviews, Mr. Orzano has experience developing company compliance strategies, preparing guidance materials and developing and delivering training to marketing team members.
Mr. Orzano has been active in the Firm’s pro bono efforts. He was recognized as a member of the Firm’s pro bono team of the year in 2014.
