Joseph Paldino’s U.S. immigration practice includes representation of diverse corporate clients that range from established leaders in their industries to small start-up companies. A sampling of the industries he represents includes: financial services, banking, advertising/marketing and communications, law, Internet services, retailing, biotechnology, insurance, natural resources exploration and production, manufacturing, and fine and performing arts.
Joseph provides counsel on all aspects of corporate U.S. immigration, including nonimmigrant visas, permanent residence, citizenship, compliance, and immigration support for corporate mergers and acquisitions.
Prior to joining Fragomen in 2000, Joseph served as Law Clerk to the Honorable Reynaldo G. Garza, Circuit Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
Following his clerkship, Joseph served as an Associate in the Immigration and Litigation Departments at the law firm of Proskauer Rose LLP. As an Associate, he represented corporate immigration clients from numerous industries in all phases of U.S. Immigration Law.
At St. John’s University, School of Law, Joseph served as a Staff Member of the American Bankruptcy Institute Law Review and President of the Justinian Law Society.
He also served as an Intern with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, Supreme Court of the State of New York, Appellate Division, Second Judicial Department, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York.
Joseph participated pro bono with Association of the Bar of the City of New York – City Bar Justice Center, to provide community outreach to help residents of South Queens complete and file the N-400 Naturalization Applications.
Joseph also provided pro bono immigration representation and assistance for religious workers who oversee Abraham House, a NYC-based social services organization for formerly incarcerated individuals.
Residents are required to finish their high school education, receive intensive counseling for their problems, learn to take social and personal responsibility, and obtain and maintain employment. Only one of the close to 200 graduates of the Abraham House program has returned to prison for a second offense.
EXPERIENCE:
- Under extremely demanding time constraints, obtained the USCIS’ expedited approval of O-1 Extraordinary Ability Visas and return of O-1 Visa Stamps by a U.S. Embassy in order for two former Heads of State to present at several time sensitive high profile speaking events in the U.S.
- Advised one of the leading advertising/marketing companies on how to reduce potential liabilities and to ensure that the foreign national employees had proper working status when acquiring smaller companies within the industry
- Obtained an expedited O-1 Extraordinary Ability Visa for a world renowned artist, known as the “Pavement Picasso.” This allowed him to enter the U.S. on an expedited basis to create the centerpiece artwork, in Military Island in Time Square, for the grand opening of a major brand name clothing manufacturer’s store in Time Square.
