
Joshua B. Pickar is an associate in the Litigation Department. Mr. Pickar joined Debevoise in 2017. He received his J.D. with honors as a Kirkland & Ellis scholar from the University of Chicago Law School in 2017 where he was a member of the Order of the Coif and a staffer on both The University of Chicago Legal Forum and the Chicago Journal of International Law. He also received the Llewellyn Cup and Mulroy Prize for excellence in appellate advocacy.
While in law school, he was the president of the University of Chicago’s Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court team, participating in the competition for two years. He also was a member of the Jenner & Block U.S. Supreme Court & Appellate Advocacy Clinic, where he drafted petitions for certiorari, amicus briefs and merits briefs before the United States Supreme Court and briefed and argued a Fourth Amendment appeal before the Seventh Circuit. He received his MSc in Politics Research at the University of Oxford (Balliol College), which he attended on a Rhodes Scholarship. He received his B.A. from the George Washington University, where he graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He is fluent in Spanish and French and proficient in Russian.
