As Founding Principal of CyberlawStudio, Julia Cheng has over 10 years of experience practising business, digital media, technology and internet law matters, with clients in California and New York.
Through her practice, Julia advises clients on corporate matters ranging from corporate and securities, mergers and acquisitions, to capital raise through various financing transactions involving crowdfunding platforms, angels and venture capital.
For her digital media clients Julia counsels them on matters related to the development, publishing and distribution of mobile apps, interactive entertainment, video games, copyright and trademark protection, social e-commerce, Internet data and privacy issues.
For her technology clients (SaaS, PaaS and IaaS) Julia routinely drafts or negotiates MSAs, VSAs, SRAs, SOWs and SLAs. Julia’s clients include award winning creatives, startups and mid-stage companies.
For certain clients, Julia serves as their in-house counsel “outsourced,” advising them on routine legal matters as well as business contract matters with Fortune 500 companies (Google, Microsoft, IBM, Electronic Arts, CNN, NFL, Playboy) and vendors.
Before CyberlawStudio, Julia practiced corporate law at a Wall Street law firm working with investment banks such as Morgan Stanley and Credit Suisse. Julia lived in Asia for 18 years and is fluent in Mandarin Chinese (read and write).
During her spare time, Julia serves on the Boards of Directors of Out in Tech Inc., the largest LGBT tech nonprofit and LGBT Bar Association of LA. Julia enjoys hiking in LA and culinary excursions in NY.
