Julianne K. Nowicki is a member of the Global Regulatory Enforcement Group and focuses her practice in international trade and national security legal matters. Julianne advises clients in building effective trade compliance programs, licensing matters, and jurisdiction classification issues.
She counsels clients facing export/import issues that are governed by a wide range of government agencies, including the Department of State, Department of Commerce, Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
Julianne understands the day-to-day issues that businesses across numerous industries face in complying with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), OFAC, and the ever-changing body of export/import regulations.
Julianne assists clients in developing effective trade compliance solutions during high-stakes situations. Her experience includes guiding companies through trade compliance audits, investigations and consent agreements; developing trade compliance policies and procedures; and providing global trade compliance employee trainings.
Julianne has offered global trade compliance trainings for employees across the board in the shipping, engineering, senior management, manufacturing, sales/marketing, human resources, IT, contracts, and trade compliance roles within an organization. Additionally, her astute awareness of classification issues and ability to work with engineering teams helps ensure that businesses arrive at accurate classifications for their product lines. She regularly works with technical experts to provide classification determinations for military, aerospace, and commercial product lines.
Julianne has practical experience, having served as an export compliance manager for a multi-billion-dollar global company serving the aerospace, defense, industrial and communications industries. Her unique experience as part of an in-house global trade compliance team provides her with insight when advising businesses facing trade compliance issues or potential sanctions. Combined with her legal experience, Julianne is able to work with clients to improve overall export/import compliance and deliver effective compliance strategies tailored to their business objectives. Her practical and legal experience make her an invaluable asset in trade compliance matters.
In addition to international trade matters, Julianne assists clients with complex litigation matters, including Customs matters, and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) investigations. Julianne is also dedicated to pro bono matters and works in assisting non-profits in securing 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status.
