Julius Bodie is a member of Baker Donelson’s Global Business Team and the International Trade Practice, focusing on international trade laws and regulatory compliance. Julius assists U.S. and foreign companies across multiple industries with international trade regulatory issues, including identifying import/export licensing strategies, advising on global anti-corruption compliance, and counseling on Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) economic sanctions programs.
He works with companies regarding product classifications for import and export and advises on various regulatory requirements involving the Department of Homeland Security’s Customs and Border Protection, the Department of State’s Directorate of Defense Trade Controls and the Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security.
Julius also assists with various issues involving international trade remedies, restrictions, and enforcement, including helping companies understand the revised CFIUS regulations and related requirements, assisting with anti-dumping and countervailing duty investigation strategies, and advising companies on how to navigate the Section 301 and Section 232 tariff exclusion processes.
Prior to Baker Donelson, Julius was a legal extern for the Honorable Stephen V. Wilson in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. He also worked as a law clerk for the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand under the Intellectual Property Attaché for Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), assisting government officials on international trade and intellectual property matters, including the implementation of the Trans-Pacific Partnership.
