
Karen JoAnne Sloat is a highly experienced attorney and has practiced different types of law for over 30 years in the states of California, Colorado, and Hawaii. She currently practices from the Law Office of Karen J. Sloat APC based in Indian Wells, California.
She focuses on labor and employment law, transactions and contracts, wrongful termination, and litigation in a variety of venues and areas, and represents a wide range of clients including for-profit and non-profit businesses as well as individuals.
The Palm Springs Life Magazine has named her in the Best Lawyers list twice in 2012 and 2017. Los Angeles Times listed her in the Southern California’s Top Rated Lawyers list in 2013. She has earned the listing in the Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers since 2009.
She served as a President of Desert Bar Association in 2016-2017 and currently serves as its Trustee. She is a Member of the Warren Slaughter-Richard Roemer Inn of Court since 2007.
She has also obtained the membership of professional associations such as the Labor and Employment Section of the California State Bar, Desert Communities Employer Advisory Council, and CA Chamber of Commerce at its sections Indio, Palm Desert, & Rancho Mirage.
Karen J. Sloat is the Co-Founder of Coachella Valley Women Lawyers and has served as a Member of the Bench-Bar Coalition of the State Bar of California in 2015-2016.
She attended the Loyola Law School in Los Angeles at the Loyola Marymount University and earned her J.D. in the year 1987. While in law school, she served as a Note & Comment Editor at the Loyola Law Review and obtained the membership of the International Law Society as well as Christian Legal Society.
Before studying law, she completed B.A. from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA in 1980. She worked with the law firm FitzGerald & Mule LLP for over eight years from 2002 – 2010 and set up her Law Office of Karen J. Sloat in December 2010.
