KATE W. HAAKONSEN is a senior partner at Brown, Paindiris & Scott in Glastonbury, CT. Her principal areas of practice are Divorce Law and Family Law. She also concentrates in collaborative law and mediation, having over 200 hours of mediation training and over 70 hours of Collaborative Training, and is also experienced in other civil litigation and real estate. She has spoken at family law and mediation conferences around New England.
Ms. Haakonsen is admitted to practice in Connecticut and in the U.S. District Court for Connecticut, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court. She is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association, a past Chair of the Family Law Section and is a member of that section’s Executive and Legislative Committees; she is also a member of the Hartford County Bar Association where she served as co-chair of the Family Law Committee, and the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association.
Ms. Haakonsen is a charter member and past president of the Connecticut Council for Divorce Mediation now known as Connecticut Council for Non-adversarial Divorce and Connecticut Collaborative Divorce Group. She is an Advanced Mediator member of the Academy of Professional Family Mediators, an Advanced Practitioner member of Association for Conflict Resolution, a member of International Academy of Collaborative Professionals, the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, and a past president of the Hartford Association of Women Attorneys.
She has been designated by her peers as a “Connecticut Super Lawyer” in the annual Connecticut Super Lawyer Magazine, Family Law, 2010-2016. Ms. Haakonsen is a graduate of Ursinus College and the University of Connecticut School of Law.
