
Katey Korslund graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and International Studies with a minor in Spanish from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) in 2000.
Shortly after graduating from Virginia Tech, she worked as a paralegal on the Intellectual Property Team at Hunton & Williams corporate office in Richmond, Virginia. Subsequently, Katey attended the Appalachian School of Law and earned her Juris Doctorate in 2005.
After her first year of law school, Katey clerked for the General District Court of Buchanan County for the 29th Judicial District for the Honorable Judge Patrick Johnson.
After being admitted to the Virginia State Bar in 2006, she practiced domestic matters involving uncontested divorces, custody, and child support in addition to defending criminal matters.
In 2007, she became an associate attorney with Sykes, Bourdon, Ahern & Levy in Virginia Beach, Virginia specializing in real estate transactions and secured creditor’s rights.
During her employment there, Katey was admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Eastern and Western District of Virginia and the United States Bankruptcy Court.
From 2011-2017 Katey served as a partner, owner, and attorney for Korslund & Korslund, P.C. During her time there, she represented indigent criminal defendants in Norfolk and Virginia Beach, and also was the Guardian Ad Litem for children in contested custody matters in Chesapeake, Virginia.
