Katherine M. Gillespie is a partner in the Real Estate, Land Use and Environmental Practice Group in the firm’s Chicago office. She is Team Leader of the Energy, Infrastructure and Project Finance industry team. Ms. Gillespie focuses her practice on finance transactions, tax credit transactions, and merger and acquisition transactions, in each case, primarily in the renewable energy sector. Ms. Gillespie also has extensive experience in leasing transactions.

Ms. Gillespie has represented numerous developers, equity investors, lessors, and lessees in financing, acquisition, and leasing matters involving specialized facilities and equipment. Her tax credit transaction experience includes structuring, acquiring, and divesting interests in tax credit partnerships primarily relating to alternative energy credits.

  • Represented investor in connection with formation of partnership flip transactions with a forward commitment related to solar distributed generation facilities and the subsequent funding of projects with 18 different offtakers.
  • Represented sponsor in connection with tax and cash equity financing of a portfolio of three wind projects consisting of in excess of 200 MW.
  • Represented investor in connection with formation of a partnership flip transaction with a forward commitment related to solar distributed generation facilities and the subsequent funding of projects with 7 different offtakers.
