Katherine W. Hennigs focuses her practice on estate planning for high net worth families and individuals, including the creation of estate planning documents, business succession plans and charitable gifting opportunities. Her goal is to understand the unique dynamics within each family, and work with them to meet their individual objectives in the most tax-efficient manner.

Kate also works with families and individuals to help implement their plans by coordinating with family members and other advisors, and guiding executors and trustees through complex estate administrations.

In 2016 Kate was awarded a fellowship at Bread for the City where she represented low income victims of domestic violence in family law matters in DC Superior Court. She now uses this experience to help clients protect their assets in the event of a family dispute.

Kate is a member of the American Bar Association, Sections of Taxation; Real Property, Trust and Estate Law; and Family Law; and a member of the DC Bar Association’s Sections of Taxation; and Trusts and Probate Law.

While in law school, Kate received national recognition for her second place finish in the ABA Section of Taxation Annual Law Student Tax Challenge, and interned for Justice LeRoy F. Millette, Jr. of the Virginia Supreme Court.
