Kathleen Martin is an accomplished trial lawyer with more than 12 years of experience handling complex, high-exposure litigation involving catastrophic injuries and intricate theories of negligence.
She defends pharmaceutical and medical device companies in product liability actions, represents medical providers in medical malpractice suits alleging severe injuries and wrongful death, and defends appliance manufacturers in product liability cases involving injuries resulting from fires.
Kathleen also has extensive experience representing clients in the retail and hospitality industries, including department stores and hotels, in complex negligence cases. In addition, her experience includes matters involving municipal liability, labor law, and insurance law. Kathleen has successfully briefed and argued several appeals involving complex issues of negligence and damages before the Appellate Division, Fourth Department.
Kathleen brings to each defense case an exceptionally high degree of strategic insight and creativity that stems in part from her previous experience representing plaintiffs in personal injury cases.
She is particularly well-versed in the post-judgment present value application of Articles 50-A and 50-B of the New York CPLR, which can potentially mean the difference of millions of dollars in a court’s awarding of future damages.
With this knowledge, Kathleen has the uncommon ability to successfully navigate this detailed and highly nuanced statutory and case law to the advantage of Goldberg Segalla clients.
