Kathleen K. Sheridan is an associate in Venable’s Regulatory Practice in the Washington, DC office, where she focuses on advertising and privacy. Kathleen counsels clients on the use of testimonials and endorsements, native advertising, claims substantiation and labeling, negative option enrollment, and compliance with online behavioral advertising principles.
She also helps clients navigate data breach notifications, draft and implement privacy policies, and conduct privacy risk assessments. In addition, Kathleen has an extensive background in global trade and anti-corruption compliance, including advising clients on sanctions and import/export controls, investigating anti-corruption whistleblower complaints, and conducting FCPA risk assessments.
She has negotiated privacy, advertising, and trade issues in M&A, equity, and debt transactions, and has litigated consumer protection, gaming, antitrust, and corporate governance matters.
Kathleen is a 2012 graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law. While in law school, she served as an editor for the Virginia Journal of International Law and worked with both the Thomas Jefferson Center for the Protection of Free Expression and the Virginia Capital Representation Resource Center.
