Kate Martin is a partner at Higgs Fletcher & Mack and was recently named as one of San Diego’s top “40 Under 40” by The Daily Transcript, a distinction recognizing “young talented professionals whose skills, integrity and leadership embody the very best the region has to offer.”
The focus of Ms. Martin’s practice is on the defense of individuals and business in all phases of civil litigation. She has a wide range of litigation experience, including catastrophic personal injury, professional liability, elder abuse, healthcare, public entity, class action, employment, and business.
She has extensive experience in the development and execution of cost effective defense strategies, while working closely with her clients to meet their individual needs.
Ms. Martin has a track record of success on case-dispositive motions, including summary judgment/adjudication, case-ending demurrers, and Anti-SLAPP motions. She also has significant trial experience.
She successfully defended one of California’s largest school districts in a three-week jury trial that received extensive media attention. Ms. Martin also represents clients at arbitrations and administrative proceedings.
Ms. Martin graduated from the University of San Diego with honors. Based on her undergraduate performance, Ms. Martin was awarded a full academic scholarship to attend California Western School of Law.
She graduated with honors, was admitted to California State Bar, and joined Higgs Fletcher & Mack in 2005.
